Holon
Holon is a city near Tel Aviv and Jaffa, east of Bat Yam and north of Rishon Lezion.
In the 1920s, on a sandy area south of Jaffa, which was bought by Jews, five settlements were created. In 1937 they merged together, and the new settlement was named Holon.
The name "Holon" is mentioned in Tanakh. It comes from the word "hol", meaning "sand" in Hebrew.
Holon received the status of the city in 1950.
In Holon there is a large industrial zone and Holon Institute of Technology.
A significant part of the city's population consists of immigrants from the CIS countries.
In the city there is a large water park "Yamit-2000".
In Holon, the Wolfson Hospital is located.
